Jog Fall: This is the second highest waterfall in India. It is divided between Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada district. The water fall is in Siddhapura taluk (Uttara Kannada district) and is seen from Sagar taluk (Shivamogga district).
Gudavi Bird Sanctuary: It is in Sorba taluk. Many types of birds come here during the breeding season, which is from August to October.
Mandagade Bird Sanctuary: Mandagade is a small island in the Tunga River. In the rainy season, the lower parts of the trees get submerged and birds can be seen sitting on top of the trees.
Watching the sunset at Agumbe: Seeing the sun far into the Arabian Sea, while standing in the middle of the Evergreen forests above the Western Ghats is a special experience.
Kodachadri: A natural heritage site in the Western Ghats, a good place for trekking. It is situated between the districts of Shivamogga and Udupi.
Tivarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari: It is 10 km from Shivamogga town. Tiger, lion, leopard, bear and other animals can be found.
Sakrebelu Elephant Camp: It is situated on the banks of river Tunga. On specific days they host Elephant football and cricket matches. Gajanur Dam is also nearby.
Lingnamaki Dam: Built against the Sharavati River, it is used to generate electricity. Special permission is required to visit the power plant.
Keladi: This was the capital of the state of Keladi Nayak. Here we can see a museum and Rameshwar temple. The official symbol of the Government of Karnataka is based on the Gandaberunda (two-headed eagle) found in the Rameshwar temple.
Ikeri: This is another agreement that was important during the rule of Keladi Nayak. Here we can see Ikkeri Fort and Aghoreswar Temple.
Varadahalli: The ashram of Sridhar Swami can be seen here, which is an important religious place.
Mattur: This village near Shivamogga is famous as Sanskrit village. Everyone speaks Sanskrit in this village. It is one of the very few places in India where Sanskrit is spoken as the first language. They have the facility to stay for a few days and learn Sanskrit.
Sigandur: The Choudheshwari temple at Sigandur is visited by thousands of devotees everyday. We need to cross the Sharavati river by barge to reach Sigandur from Shivamogga. Traveling by Bajra is as much an attraction as a temple.
Balligavi: Located in the Shikaripura taluk, Balligavi and the surrounding areas have a history from the time of the Kadambas. The Kedareshwar and Tripurantak temples can be seen here, which have elaborate carvings.
Talagunda: This village is near Balligavi. Several inscriptions were found here, which give important information about the history of Kadamba and Kannada languages. The inscription found in the Pranavalingeshwar temple dates back to 3 AD - 750 AD. It is considered to be the oldest inscription in Kannada.
Kuppalli: It is a village in Tirthahalli taluk. Rashtrakavi (National Poet)
